I know it’s been a long, cold winter for many families and we are no exception. I don’t know that there has been a week all season that one of us hasn’t had some kind of illness.
We started out with Griffin having an ear infection over Christmas (Trey was at the Dr. with him on Christmas Eve) then both boys had strep throat over New Year’s. Last week they ran low grade fevers and had a mild stomach virus. And through it all they have had snotty noses and horrible coughs. Quentin’s cough got so bad today that he threw up…ah, yes…all over ME!!! And that’s just the kids. Trey and I have both been on antibiotics this winter which neither of us have been for years. I have had a sinus infection every other week! I’ve given up on the meds and just continuously load myself up on vitamin C. But it never fails, as soon as I get over one round, about a week later, it comes back.
And so goes life with small children aka the carrier monkeys (as my Mom called them today.) Being at home since Q was born we have been lucky to avoid many illnesses, especially when they were babies. But now that Quentin is in preschool the game has changed. I feel like we need to put a sign in our front yard that reads ”sick house”. I know other families who have had it worse and been in and out of ER’s this winter. My heart seriously goes out to them!! It’s tough enough raising two healthy kids but adding sickness to the mix doubles the challenge.
Please hurry Spring…we are desperate for some sunshine and fresh air! We need to get out of the house and to the park. My carrier monkeys need to turn back into regular monkeys- and soon!!
